SUB10 Ethernet Data Link

The SUB10 Liberator is a range of wireless 60-80 Ghz ethernet links, developed for last mile cellular backhaul in dense urban areas and point to point data transfer up to one mile apart, using a pair of small high gain planar antennas.

A rugged diecast aluminium electronic housing and novel stainless steel mounting bracket were developed to enable precision alignment of the antenna during installation, using a cruciform gear assembly and fine adjustment worms.

IceSpy Data Logger

2012

The IceSpy range of wireless data loggers was designed to meet legislation for temperature monitoring of chilled and frozen food in the retail delivery chain.

Frazer Design working closely with the UK manufacturer’s electronic team developed a modular housing for the master control unit with touch keyboard, display and receivers.

The IP53 rated design provides flexible connectivity and PCB options, including a slave repeater version.

The Scout wireless sensor housing is ultrasonically welded to give an IP68 rugged construction with an overmoulded elastomer antenna, status LED indicators and flexible mounting options.

Pico TC-08 Data Logger

2004

Pico Technology is well known for pioneering PC oscilloscopes and data loggers. Their original RS232 thermocouple data logger required redesign for USB and value engineering.

The new model was designed as an injection moulded housing  to both increase quality and reduce costs by incorporating the eight thermocouple contact assemblies into the front housing.

The thermocouple contacts are shrouded by the front housing, substantially reducing the component and assembly cost.

The visually distinctive elliptical socket design layout of the TC-08 was inspired by the technical need to maintain equal distances to the internal temperature reference thermistor for accuracy between channels.

Thales Tracs Satellite Locator

The portable Thales Tracs GPS/UHF Locator is used for many applications from precise positioning at sea, to surveying and location finding on land to an accuracy of centimetres.

The rugged unit with a simple control panel can be mounted

to a backpack or a vehicle dashboard. Sealed to withstand harsh environmental conditions and EMC interference, the electronics dissipate heat from an aluminium heatsink mounted in the surface of the plastic housing.

Vision Cobra Microscope

1996

The Cobra Microscope was styled to communicate the ergonomic advantage of Vision Engineering’s patented optical technology, which reduces operator fatigue in medical life sciences and industrial inspection.

The microscope has a rigid skeletal mechanical structure, using die castings and an extruded aluminium column. External injection mouldings provide a durable finish and attractive external form for the optical head, microscope stages, illumination and stand.

3D Scanners ModelMaker

1996

The scanning of complex 3D surfaces in automotive and aerospace engineering was pioneered by 3D Scanners Ltd (now Nikon Metrology), using its ModelMaker software and a laser stripe scanning head, mounted on a hand articulated measuring arm.

Frazer Design developed the camera head as a compact ergonomic assembly in 3D CAD for a proof of principle development prototype. The design data was then used to manufacture polyurethane vacuum cast housings, to meet initial scanner sales.

Megger Installation Tester

1994

The Megger CM300/400 Combined Installation Testers provide the electrical test functions required for domestic and commercial wiring in a single instrument.

The unit can be used on the bench or in the field, allowing the free use of both hands and opening to give optimum viewing of the LCD display and access to cable lead storage.

Following on from this project, Frazer developed a “Corporate Product Identity Manual” for colour, graphics and finishes, to help Avo Megger integrate both new and legacy products into a more cohesive product brand identity, across their international brands and markets.

Digitron Thermometer

1986

A rugged and waterproof range of thermocouple thermometers for food and technical industries, designed with an innovative one piece moulded case, to give high shock resistance and sealing against dirt and liquids.

The rocking key bars can be operated by gloved hands and are interchangeable with blank insert bars, enabling the manufacturer to offer a range of models to order, from stock moulded parts.
